The American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln will dock in Thailand next week, according to a Thai official quoted by the Reuters agency. This visit comes after a deployment of over 250 days in the Middle East, where conditions on board have been reported as deteriorating, with suicide attempts and mental health issues among the crew.
USS Abraham Lincoln, which carries approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines, left the Middle East area on Saturday and has not made a port call in over 250 days, setting a new record. The Thai Navy has confirmed that the carrier strike group will make a short stop for rest and recovery, without scheduled military exercises. Although Thai officials did not specify the number of ships or the dates of the stop, the Navy spokesperson emphasized that the visit is an opportunity for logistical support for personnel. USS Abraham Lincoln was redirected to the Middle East to support American military operations in the war with Iran, and relations between Thailand and the USA remain close, considering the long-standing partnership.
