Tesla Energy Ventures, a division of Tesla, has received the necessary license to enter the British energy market, amid growing concerns about high energy bills.
Approved by Ofgem, the energy regulator in Great Britain, the license was the result of an evaluation process that began in July last year.
Tesla intends to use its solar energy and battery technologies for homes, such as energy storage systems, to compete with traditional suppliers like Octopus Energy, British Gas, and EDF.
The decision comes at a time when Britons are worried about rising energy bills, and the company is trying to expand its operations in the energy sector, amid declining Tesla car sales in Europe.
