Microsoft has withdrawn from the agreement concluded with British cloud services provider Nscale for the development of a data center in Loughton, in Essex, United Kingdom. The decision was made against the backdrop of delays in carrying out the project and difficulties encountered in connecting the future facility to the electricity grid.
The information was reported by Reuters, which cites the British publication The Telegraph. The project was to be carried out in collaboration with Nscale, a company specializing in cloud services, but the agreement will no longer continue in the form initially established.
The withdrawal from the partnership highlights the problems facing data center projects in the United Kingdom, where access to energy infrastructure and obtaining a connection to the electricity grid can significantly delay the development of new facilities. Data centers require substantial amounts of energy, and the availability of connection capacity is an essential factor for such investments.
