Tensions at the Munich Security Conference: Rubio's absence and the Zelensky-Pahlavi meeting

The annual international security conference in Munich began with tensions, culminating in the decision of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio not to attend a meeting regarding the fate of Ukraine. This absence underscores the growing chasm between Europeans and their allies across the ocean.

On a positive note, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the last Shah of Iran, expressing his support for the Iranian people and condemning the cooperation between Moscow and Tehran. Zelensky emphasized the importance of strengthening sanctions against Iran, considering the partnership with Russia a regional threat.

At the same time, European leaders, including the Chancellor of Germany and the President of France, highlighted the need for transatlantic reconciliation, while Trump made controversial statements about Greenland, ignoring current tensions.
