Taleb Jawad al-Abdulmohsen, a Saudi accused of six murders and 338 attempted murders following the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg, announced that he has gone on a hunger strike, starting Monday, and intends to continue this action for three weeks. During the trial, he admitted that he had planned the attack 16 months in advance, repeatedly visiting the city to prepare for his action. Al-Abdulmohsen initially abandoned the idea of an attack with explosives and decided to target the Christmas market, stating that he wanted to draw attention to the issues faced by Saudi women. He also expressed frustrations regarding the German authorities and made confusing statements on social media, including criticisms of Islam. He was known to the authorities and had a legal history for threats.
