The Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced that Syria is also proposing to reach a security agreement with Israel, in an interview for Al Jazeera, emphasizing that such an agreement could pave the way for lasting peace between the two nations.

Ahmed Al-Sharaa mentioned that Syria will not renounce its right to the Golan Heights, territory occupied by Israel since 1967. He added that Syria intends to collaborate with several countries to exert pressure on Israel, while simultaneously avoiding direct confrontations.

In the context of tensions, Israeli troops have occupied strategic territories in Syria, with attacks on Syrian targets being frequent. Al-Sharaa's statements coincided with the visit of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who called for respect for Syria's sovereignty and condemned Israel's actions. This is the first visit of a UN leader to Syria since 2009.
