The body of sports journalist Luigi Esposito was discovered charred by firefighters in Eboli, Naples, and investigators suspect a murder.

Luigi Esposito, a 53-year-old sports journalist, was found dead by firefighters during an intervention to extinguish a vegetation fire in Eboli, near Naples. Initial conclusions of the investigation suggest that he may have been fatally shot, and then his body was burned and abandoned. Prosecutor Raffaele Cantone mentioned that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, which complicated the initial identification of the victim. Esposito's identity was confirmed by the National Order of Journalists in Italy, which highlighted his collaboration with various local publications and his work within the regional environmental protection agency. The president of the Order, Carlo Bartoli, called for clarification of the circumstances under which the tragedy occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
