The authorities in Madrid reacted on Tuesday after American President Donald Trump announced that he will suspend trade relations with the country, due to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's refusal to support the attack on Iran. A spokesperson for the Spanish cabinet emphasized that Spain is a key member of NATO, significantly contributing to the defense of Europe and having long-standing trade relations with the USA.

Trump accused Spain of an unfriendly attitude, claiming that it refused to allow the use of its military bases. In response, Spain highlighted the importance of respecting the autonomy of private companies and international agreements.
