Donald Trump criticizes Spain over the situation in Ceuta: “A country with ZERO control over its border. WOW!”

U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Spain again on Sunday, stating that the country has “zero control” over its borders, amid the massive influx of migrants into the city of Ceuta, a Spanish territory in North Africa. The statement was made in a post on his Truth Social network.

“So sad what is happening in Spain, a country with ZERO control over its border. WOW!” Trump wrote, referring to the situation in Ceuta without explicitly mentioning the city.

At the end of July, more than 70,000 migrants illegally entered Ceuta from Morocco. Most were returned in the following days, but just over 5,000 people remain in the city, awaiting the processing of deportation or asylum applications.

Trump has previously criticized Spain over the level of its military spending and its positions on conflicts in Iran and the Gaza Strip. In an interview with British channel GB News, he called Spain a “destroyed country” and accused it of not sufficiently honoring its commitments to NATO. Referring to Ceuta, the U.S. president said it was “very sad to see” thousands of people entering the country.
