Robert Fico, Slovakia's prime minister, said the country will no longer send military assistance to Ukraine and criticized European sanctions against Russia. Although the government has vowed not to deliver arms from state stockpiles, arms exports through private Slovak companies have risen to €1.15 billion in 2024. Officials stress that this respects the free market and does not contradict the government's position. The opposition accuses the government of opportunism, saying its strategy combines a pacifist policy with profits for the defense industry.
