The new law requires non-governmental organizations to disclose sources of funding and publish extensive lists of officials, with fines for administrative errors. Criticized by NGOs as an attempt to intimidate, the law is seen as a Russian-inspired regulation aimed at limiting the activities of civil organizations. Although tougher measures were initially proposed, some changes were rejected by Fico's allies. International reactions suggest the law could violate constitutional rights and EU rules.
