Seven Russian oil tankers are carrying 288,000 tonnes of diesel to the US / New Jersey is considering blocking access

Seven Russian oil tankers carrying approximately 288,000 tonnes of diesel are heading to the United States and are expected to arrive at the beginning of November. The shipments were identified and tracked by Greenpeace Ukraine on October 29, after the Donald Trump administration temporarily allowed Russian diesel sales to resume.

The vessels Taurus, Pvt Azura, Agioi Fanendes, Talisman, Leruo, Iblea and Primorye are crossing the Atlantic Ocean, but it is not known which US ports they will dock at. Three of them are sanctioned by several countries and are associated with Russia’s “shadow fleet.” Talisman is also included on the US sanctions list issued in January 2025.

Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal warned the shipping company that the deliveries could violate the 2022 US law banning imports of Russian oil. Meanwhile, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill said she was considering blocking the vessels’ access to the state’s ports. Critics argue that resuming imports provides financial support to Russia and undermines the sanctions imposed after the invasion of Ukraine.
