A high-speed train derailed and collided with another one coming from the opposite direction in southern Spain on Sunday, the second train being pushed off the tracks and rolling over an embankment.

The toll of the train accident in southern Spain has significantly increased. At least 21 people have died, according to police sources cited by Reuters. Spanish public television has reported that approximately 100 people were injured.

About 400 passengers were on the two trains, mostly Spaniards returning to or leaving Madrid after the weekend.
