The Ukrainian Parliament appointed Serhii Koretsky as Prime Minister, obtaining 289 votes from 392 present parliamentarians.
Koretsky becomes the fourth Prime Minister during President Volodymyr Zelensky's term, replacing Iulia Sviridenko. Proposed by Zelensky on July 15, Koretsky is a former CEO of Naftogaz, and the leader of the "Servants of the People" parliamentary group emphasized the importance of his experience in the energy sector, considering the upcoming challenges.
His appointment took place in the context of a political dispute, following the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, which generated criticism and protests from military personnel and civil society.
