A new tragedy has occurred in Nigeria, where the female students from St. Mary Catholic School, located in the local government area of Agwara, were kidnapped. Abubakar Usman, the government secretary, confirmed the incident, stating that the exact number of kidnapped students is still unknown. The kidnapping took place around 2 a.m., and police, military, and security forces are mobilized to search for the students in the nearby forests.
This kidnapping comes a few days after 25 high school girls were abducted from a boarding school in Maga. The identity of the kidnappers remains unknown, with suspicions that they could be jihadist groups or criminal gangs. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has placed security forces on high alert, in the context of an increase in violence and kidnappings in the country, which has been facing a jihadist insurgency for over 16 years.
