A Russian rocket attack took place in the village of Pechenihy in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, resulting in the death of 10 people and injuring another 8, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky's announcement.
The attack targeted a busy intersection, where there is a post office and shops, surrounded by residential buildings.
Zelensky promised that he would retaliate, emphasizing the brutality of the attack. Recordings from the area showed corpses, burned cars, and damaged buildings. Russia has intensified airstrikes on Ukraine, and the UN reported a significant increase in civilian casualties in July. At the same time, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian infrastructure.
The attack in Pechenihy was carried out with 'Banderol' type cruise missiles, according to Ukraine's Attorney General. Local officials confirmed that the attacks hit the center of the village, severely affecting civilian life.
