A Russian military transport plane, model An-26, crashed on Tuesday near the Crimean peninsula, resulting in the death of 29 people on board, according to reports from the Russian agency Tass and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Contact with the aircraft was lost on Monday, around 6:00 PM (Moscow time). Investigators from the Ministry of Defense have been mobilized to the crash site to determine the circumstances of the crash. Of the 29 deceased, 23 were passengers, and six were crew members. According to official sources, no signs of external impact were found on the wreckage of the aircraft, suggesting that technical malfunctions may be the main cause of the accident.
