A Russian Tu-95 strategic bomber crashed on Tuesday during a training flight in an isolated and uninhabited area of the Amur region in Russia’s Far East. Six crew members were killed, while another was injured and transported to a medical facility, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Russian authorities stated that the aircraft was not carrying weapons at the time of the accident. The crash occurred in a remote area, so no civilian casualties were reported.
A team of investigators was sent to the crash site to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Ministry of Defense has not yet provided information about a possible technical cause or the condition of the injured serviceman.
The Tu-95 is a strategic bomber and one of the main aircraft of this type operated by the Russian air force. The accident occurred during a training mission, not a military operation.
