Kirill Dmitriev, the director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, stated that Europe and Great Britain will beg Russia for oil and gas amid the crisis generated by the war in Iran. Dmitriev predicted that oil prices could reach 150-200 dollars per barrel, warning of a severe energy crisis that Europe is not prepared to manage.

He emphasized that the West made a mistake by reducing dependence on Russian energy after the invasion of Ukraine and stated that Russia will decide whether to honor European requests. Despite these statements, Brussels remains firm in its decision to completely eliminate hydrocarbons from Russia, with European Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jørgensen, insisting that the European Union should not import 'not even a single molecule' of energy from Russia.
