The spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Russia will not send representatives to the meetings on Wednesday in Turkey, which aim to resume diplomatic dialogue in the context of the war in Ukraine. Peskov emphasized that the discussions will take place without Russia's participation, but mentioned that President Vladimir Putin is open to discussions with Turkey and the United States after the meetings conclude.
The discussions will also include the special envoy of the USA, Steve Witkoff, and sources close to the Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev have confirmed his absence. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will travel to Turkey to revitalize peace negotiations, emphasizing the importance of restoring prisoner exchanges. Turkey, which has acted as a mediator in the peace talks, is facing a stagnation of diplomatic dialogue in recent weeks.
