Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the claims that Alexei Navalny was poisoned in prison are just Western propaganda. She emphasized that until the test results are available, these accusations do not deserve comments. Zakharova criticized the timing of these accusations, suggesting that they are meant to distract attention from the current problems of the West, especially in the context of the investigation into the Nord Stream explosions. The UK Foreign Office has claimed that Navalny was poisoned with a lethal toxic substance that could have caused his death, and accused Russia of bearing responsibility. This is not the first time the Russian government has been accused of using toxic agents against its opponents.
