Serghei Lavrov warns that NATO's activity in the Arctic represents a direct threat to Russia's security: "The risk of incidents is increasing."

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stated that NATO's activity in the Arctic is perceived as a direct threat to Russia's security, in the context of the intensified presence of the alliance in the region, as a result of the war in Ukraine.

NATO launched the "Arctic Sentry" mission in February, highlighting the importance of the Arctic region in the face of tensions with Russia. Lavrov emphasized that NATO's military exercises are considered "aggressive" and increase the risk of incidents that could lead to armed confrontation. Russia, which has a significant military fleet in the Arctic, is developing a maritime route to connect Asian countries.
