Russia has blocked access to the online gaming platform Roblox, accusing it of promoting extremist content and LGBT propaganda. The media regulatory body, Roskomnadzor, stated that the platform contains "inappropriate content" that can negatively affect children's development, mentioning cases of sexual harassment and coercion against young users. Roblox, which allows users to create and share games, was the most downloaded mobile gaming app in Russia in 2023, with approximately 100 million daily users worldwide, 40% of whom are under 13 years old.

The platform has also been banned in other countries, including Qatar and Turkey, for child safety reasons. Russia has previously threatened to ban other foreign sites as part of a broader internet control strategy.
