The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Friday morning that, after midnight, the air defense shot down 264 Ukrainian drones in various regions of Russia, including in the capital. This incident occurred in the context in which Moscow unilaterally declared a ceasefire on May 8 and 9, when the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in World War II is celebrated.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces continued their attacks on Ukrainian positions, emphasizing that Russia made no attempt to respect the ceasefire. Additionally, Kyiv proposed an indefinite ceasefire starting from May 6, a proposal that was not accepted by Russia.
