The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, dismissed suggestions on Wednesday that President Donald Trump, at 79 years old, frequently dozes off during cabinet meetings. During a hearing in Congress, Rubio was presented with video clips in which Trump appeared to have his eyes closed. Rubio stated that these claims are "absurd and ridiculous," emphasizing that Trump is not a president who sleeps or has cognitive issues.
He added that Trump works tirelessly and has an extremely demanding work schedule. Although Trump is approaching 80 years old, he has avoided the age and health-related criticisms that have affected Joe Biden. However, a recent poll showed that 59% of respondents believe Trump does not have the mental capacity necessary to lead the country. His doctors have stated that he is in "excellent health," but they recommended that he lose weight. Additionally, Trump has had a reduced public schedule in recent months compared to the beginning of his second term.
