RTE stated that Ireland's participation in Eurovision would be unacceptable due to the loss of human lives in Gaza. Ireland, which has won the contest seven times, is awaiting the final decision of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) regarding Israel's participation. Other countries, such as Slovenia and Spain, have expressed their intention to withdraw from the competition under the same circumstances. RTE has requested discussions with the EBU before the Eurovision in May.
