The Russian nuclear agency Rosatom has decided to halt operations at the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the only one in Iran, evacuating Russian personnel due to the increased risks generated by American-Israeli bombings.
The plant, which uses Russian nuclear fuel, currently has about 600 Russian specialists, of which 250 are permanent. Rosatom's director, Alexei Likhachev, emphasized that the plant is in danger due to nearby explosions, even though the attacks do not directly target the facility. He warned that an attack on the reactor could lead to a nuclear disaster similar to that of Chernobyl. The families of Russian employees have been evacuated, and all personnel are set to leave Iran in the context of the escalating conflict.
