Mayor Roberto Gualtieri announced a program to combat the heatwave in Rome, which will include free film screenings in 11 air-conditioned cinemas. The program, named after the classic film 'Il Grande Freddo', will start on Thursday and will run until August 4, expanding the network of air-conditioned shelters in the Italian capital, which includes libraries and museums.
Screenings will take place between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, and access will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The first film to be screened is the Italian dramedy 'C'e ancora domani', released in 2023. Gualtieri emphasized the importance of this initiative, considering the high temperatures expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius in Rome.
