A court in Russia has sentenced a Romanian to 15 years in prison for espionage in favor of Ukraine.

The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a Romanian citizen, Chercio D.A., to 15 years in prison in a maximum-security penal colony for espionage in favor of Ukraine. According to the FSB, in August 2024, he collected and transmitted information about the location of air defense systems in Sochi, at the instructions of Ukrainian special services.

The Romanian was found guilty under Article 276 of the Russian Penal Code. The FSB stated that the Romanian citizen was promised, through a Ukrainian citizen, that he would be helped to leave Russia and join an armed Ukrainian group.
