Reza Pahlavi, the son of the overthrown Iranian shah, announced on Saturday that he is ready to ensure a democratic transition in Iran, after American President Donald Trump discussed the overthrow of the current regime.
Pahlavi, who lives in exile in the USA, has intensified calls for mobilization against the Islamic Republic, both in Iran and in the diaspora.
Approximately 200,000 people gathered in Munich, Germany, to protest against the Iranian authorities, where Pahlavi stated that he also assumes the role of leader of the transition towards a democratic process. The participants in the demonstration, who waved flags of the monarchy overthrown in 1979, expressed support for Pahlavi and called for international actions against the regime in Tehran.
According to human rights organizations, thousands of protesters have been killed or arrested during recent protests, while Iranian authorities claim that most of the victims are members of the security forces.
