Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is facing a serious deterioration in health, with his kidneys failing due to renal insufficiency, according to Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR). In this context, the Kremlin has begun to analyze possible candidates to replace Kadyrov, who has been undergoing dialysis and is in his hospital in Chechnya. Among the potential successors are Magomed Daudov, Apti Alaudinov, and his son, Akhmat Kadyrov, who was recently appointed interim vice president of the government. Kadyrov has been accused of nepotism, appointing his children to leadership positions.

The future of Chechnya and Moscow's control over it become uncertain as Kadyrov's health deteriorates, and the political system of the region largely depends on him and his family. Emil Aslan, a security expert, emphasizes that power in Chechnya is concentrated around Kadyrov and that Vladimir Putin's support is essential for anyone taking over leadership.
