Following the match between Benfica and Real Madrid, UEFA announced the opening of a disciplinary investigation after Vinicius Junior was the victim of racial insults from player Gianluca Prestianni.

The Brazilian Football Federation issued a statement expressing its solidarity with Vinicius, emphasizing that racism is unacceptable in football. Vinicius stated that racists are cowards and that he was unpleasantly surprised by the incident, mentioning that he was sanctioned for celebrating a goal.

Prestianni, on the other hand, denied the allegations, claiming that he did not make racial insults and that he was misinterpreted. UEFA confirmed that it is reviewing the official reports and will announce any potential sanctions on its official website.
