Qatar Airways has moved nearly 20 aircraft to Teruel, Spain, as a precaution against Iranian attacks, reducing the number of daily flights from 600 to approximately 100. Teruel, a former military airport located between Madrid and Barcelona, has become a refuge for the airline's fleet from Doha, which includes 13 Airbus A330, four A350, one A380, and one Boeing 787. These aircraft were relocated due to the closure of airspace over the Gulf, and Qatar Airways currently has 197 inactive aircraft out of a total fleet of approximately 275.

The situation is similar for Fly Emirates, which operates only half of its regular flights and has 55 aircraft on the ground. The director of Teruel airport, Alejandro Ibrahim, mentioned that the dry climate in the area helps preserve the aircraft in the long term, and the airport has also hosted a large fleet during the pandemic, when up to 140 aircraft were stationed simultaneously.
