President Vladimir Putin's approval rating has dropped to 65.6%, down from 73.3% in March, according to VTsIOM data cited by Reuters. Confidence in the Russian leader has also decreased, reaching 71% compared to 77% in March.
This dissatisfaction among the population may be caused by the economic decline, which recorded contractions in the early months of 2026, but also by the restrictions imposed on mobile internet, messaging applications, and VPN services. Putin justified these interruptions by the necessity of security measures in the context of the War in Ukraine, but he called for the maintenance of essential services in the digital domain. Regarding other political leaders, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has a confidence level of 53.8%, former President Dmitry Medvedev 36.8%, and Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov 32.7%.
