In a diplomatic note addressed to his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his deep condolences regarding the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Seyed Ali Khamenei, and some members of his family. Putin emphasized that Khamenei was a remarkable statesman, having made a significant contribution to the development of relations between Russia and Iran, which have been elevated to a complete strategic partnership. He also conveyed his support to the family and the Iranian people. Information about Khamenei's killing has been confirmed by the Iranian state media, which mentioned that the attack was carried out by American-Israeli forces, resulting in the deaths of nearly 40 other high-ranking Iranian officials.
