PST, Norway's internal security service, has issued a warning regarding the increase in sabotage and espionage activities from Russia, expecting these activities to intensify in 2026.

Norway, an ally of Ukraine and a major gas supplier for Europe, is concerned about possible attacks on its energy infrastructure, both physical and cyber. PST emphasizes that the northern regions and Svalbard are particularly vulnerable to Russian espionage, which could include surveillance of critical infrastructure. PST has also warned that Russia may attempt to recruit Ukrainian refugees in Norway to gather information or carry out acts of sabotage, considering that approximately 100,000 Ukrainian refugees are in the country. These actions are seen as a major challenge for Norwegian authorities, in the context of Russia continuing to pose an increasingly serious threat to regional security.
