The protests in Tel Aviv were in reaction to the decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to step up military operations in Gaza, including the occupation of the city. Participants demanded the release of hostages and voiced their disagreement with the plan to demilitarize the Gaza Strip under Israeli control and the establishment of a civilian administration. The war began after a Hamas attack in October 2023, which killed thousands on both sides.
