After a 140,000-strong demonstration in Belgrade, thousands of protesters blockaded the streets demanding early elections in the wake of the tragedy in Novi Sad, which left 16 people dead. The anti-corruption movement mobilized protests in several cities and the authorities responded with arrests and violence. President Vucic rejected protesters' demands, accusing them of violence and promising further arrests. Outrage over corruption and crisis management continues to generate tensions in Serbian society.
