The heir princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended her first royal engagement on Tuesday after an absence of several months, caused by health issues and scandals. She joined Crown Prince Haakon to greet the royal couple of Belgium during a state visit.

Mette-Marit has not had a public engagement since January, and her return was eagerly anticipated. Recently, the princess has been the subject of criticism due to her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, and her son, Marius Borg Hoiby, is in the midst of a trial where he is accused of rape. Additionally, Mette-Marit suffers from incurable pulmonary fibrosis, needing a lung transplant, according to official information from the Royal Palace in Oslo.
