Prime Minister Francois Bayrou has started consultations with parliamentary parties to avoid the collapse of his government, in the context of a motion of no confidence from the socialists. They contest a proposal to reduce the budget from 2026 by 44 billion euros and demand the appointment of a center-left prime minister. Olivier Faure, the leader of the socialists, emphasized that their proposals, which include tax increases for the wealthy and renegotiation of pension reform, are balanced and do not penalize companies. President Macron has called for collaboration, but the opposition has rejected the idea of a coalition.
