The vote in the National Assembly allowed Lecornu to keep his position, avoiding a possible dissolution of Parliament by Macron. Two motions of censure were rejected — the first submitted by "France Unbowed", and the second, supported by Marine Le Pen, has even slimmer chances. Although he avoided dismissal, Lecornu remains under pressure, needing to secure approval for the 2026 budget in a divided Parliament. He suggested that he might abandon the pension reform (raising the retirement age from 62 to 64) to gain political support.
