The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel, announced on Sunday evening that his country has recognized the state of Palestine.

Rangel also stated that the recognition of the state of Palestine "does not erase the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza" and condemned the situation of famine there, the destruction, and the "expansion of Israeli colonization in the West Bank."
