Pope Leo XIV condemned on Saturday the advance of politicians who engage in wars, urging the whole world to embrace peace and return to values such as love, moderation, and honest politics.

The pontiff, of American origin, called for faith to confront the "dramatic moment in history" we are living through, emphasizing that true strength manifests in the service of life, not in displays of power or the idolatry of money.

During a Vigil of Prayer for Peace in the Middle East, held at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, the Pope delivered a direct message to the leaders of nations: "Stop! It is time to make peace!" He urged them to sit at the table of dialogue and mediation, not at the table where rearmament is planned.

Although he did not name specific politicians or countries, his message was clear and incisive, representing one of his most virulent critiques of global conflicts.
