According to a survey conducted by the Forsa Institute, only 16% of Germans would unhesitatingly fight for their country in the event of a military conflict, while 22% would probably do so. 59% of respondents said they would be reluctant to defend Germany, with the reluctance being higher among women (72%). 27% also believe a military attack on Germany is possible within the next five years, and 59% think Germany should offer military aid to another NATO member in the event of conflict. The poll was conducted July 28-29 with a margin of error of plus/minus 3%.
