The Polish Minister of Defense, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, stated that the first three F-35 aircraft will soon arrive at the airbase in Lask, in northern Poland, replacing the Soviet MiG-29 and Su-22 aircraft. Poland thus becomes the first NATO country on the eastern flank to operate these fifth-generation fighter jets.

The delivery of the 32 F-35 aircraft purchased will be carried out gradually, with about six units per year, after a training period of over a year for Polish pilots. The F-35s are recognized for their advanced capabilities in electronic warfare and interoperability with allies, such as the USA and the Netherlands. The contract signed in 2020, worth 4.8 billion euros, also includes simulators and training courses, with deliveries scheduled until 2030. This acquisition strengthens Poland's military ties with the United States.
