Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on Tuesday that his government has formally begun the legal and logistical procedures to establish a permanent U.S. military base in Poland.
Donald Tusk emphasized that this initiative is essential, considering that, in his opinion, one cannot rely on Washington's commitment to deploy an additional 5,000 soldiers. He explained that it is necessary to create the financial and infrastructure framework to accommodate a larger contingent of American troops.
Currently, Poland hosts approximately 10,000 American soldiers, mostly in a rotational system, and the Polish government contributes 140 million euros annually to maintain this contingent.
