An explosion at a gas station in eastern Rome has injured several people, three of them with serious burns.

The explosion took place at a petrol, diesel and LPG station in Via dei Gordiani, and the sound was heard throughout the Italian capital. A photo published by Roma Today shows a huge cloud of smoke above the burning gas station. Following the incident, the nearby 'Teano' metro station was closed at the request of the police.
