Pedro Sánchez reacted firmly to the threats from American President Donald Trump to suspend trade relations with Spain, emphasizing his government's opposition to war and the violation of international law. In a televised speech, Sánchez discussed the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, stating that his position is clear: "in war."

Trump criticized Spain for refusing to allow the use of military bases for attacks on Iran and accused it of being a "terrible partner" in NATO. Sánchez emphasized that his government is studying economic measures to counteract the impact of the conflict on Spaniards and compared his position to that adopted in the case of Ukraine and Gaza.

He also recalled the invasion of Iraq in 2003, warning that attacks on Iran could have devastating effects on the population. In the context of domestic politics, Sánchez is facing pressure and accusations of corruption, but opposition to Trump could bring electoral benefits, given the negative opinion of Spaniards towards the American leader.
