After the first technical meeting with the USA on the topic of Greenland, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen expressed increased optimism, although the discussions have not yet led to concrete solutions. The meeting took place in Washington and was described by Rasmussen as constructive, with the promise of future meetings.

This discussion comes in the context in which American President Donald Trump has abandoned the idea of forcibly occupying Greenland, an action that has caused tensions within NATO. Rasmussen also reaffirmed that Denmark and Greenland do not intend to transfer sovereignty over the island, which is not for sale.

At the same time, the head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio, emphasized that satisfactory solutions can be found for all parties involved. The discussions focus on Arctic security, in the context of concerns related to the influence of Russia and China in the region.
