OpenAI has seen a diversification of tactics by groups in China using its artificial intelligence technology for covert operations. Since the launch of ChatGPT, concerns about malicious uses of AI have increased, including the generation of fake content and malware. OpenAI has blocked accounts producing politically sensitive political posts, and cyber actors in China have used AI for research, script modification and cyberattacks. The Chinese foreign ministry has not commented on the situation.
